The Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers are in a similar position this NBA offseason. They are both used to contending in the Eastern Conference but just went through an underwhelming season that saw them miss the playoffs. That can change if they push the right buttons in the offseason.

Toronto is off to a strong start thanks to the NBA Draft Lottery. They landed the fourth-overall pick and used it on Scottie Barnes. They passed on Jalen Suggs, which means there could be plans to find another point guard or perimeter player.

Fred VanVleet is their centerpiece player and could use another option. On the other hand, the Raptors were thin down low and this was a reason they fell in the standings. There are plenty of deals available that could help them in this area.

The Pacers could be a trade partner. Indiana has been featured in many conversations because of the pieces they have in place. They have seen Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis thrown around in talks because of their current situation.

Indiana is in a limbo phase where they could decide to stock up or sell a bit. In this deal, they would sell but also keep some core pieces in place.
