3 late-offseason trade targets for Boston Celtics to consider

Boston Celtics, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The Boston Celtics started their NBA offseason with a bang, revamping their front office and coaching staff. Former head coach Brad Stevens headed to the front office, taking over the job that Danny Ainge stepped down from. Ime Udoka, one of the most highly-regarded assistant coaches in the league, was tabbed as the head coach.

Stevens wasted no time making his first move, as he traded starting point guard Kemba Walker, their 2021 first-round draft pick and a 2025 second round to the Oklahoma City Thunder. In return, the Celtics received Al Horford and a 2023 second-round pick.

The Celtics were quiet during the 2021 NBA Draft as a result. They had the 45th overall pick and selected guard Juhann Begarin, a draft-and-stash prospect from France. He has some intrigue given his 7-foot wingspan, but we may not see him in the NBA for a little while.

Stevens completed his second trade a day after the draft, this time with the Atlanta Hawks. Boston acquired Kris Dunn and a 2023 second-round pick in exchange for Tristan Thompson. Later, this was made to be a three-team deal where the Dallas Mavericks sent Josh Richardson to the Celtics in exchange for Moses Brown.

Bruno Fernando is also heading to Boston in the deal. Dunn will give Boston some depth at point guard and they also added some more wiggle room to bring back Evan Fournier or make other moves below the tax and hard cap lines.

With some other holes to fill on the roster, this is a shrewd move by Stevens to afford a little more money to spend with.

Who could Boston be targeting? Here are three post-draft trade targets for the Celtics to look into pursuing.
