2 free agents Brooklyn Nets could target on ring-chasing deals

Paul Millsap, Boston Celtics, NBA Rumors

1. Paul Millsap

Paul Millsap has seen his role with the Denver Nuggets shrink every season that he was with the team. His minutes per game have decreased in four consecutive seasons and he was an afterthought in their rotation come playoff time, averaging only 12.1 minutes per game off the bench.

Despite that, there is a competition to sign Milsap this offseason. The Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks could both offer him the taxpayer’s mid-level exception worth about $5.9 million. That is something he would be open to doing.

While Brooklyn cannot offer him as much money, they will have to lean into the chance to win an NBA title as the main incentive to joining the team. Paul Millsap has 129 games of playoff experience but has never made it to the NBA Finals, so that could be something that intrigues him.

At 36-years old, Millsap has slowed down a step but he can still produce. He would give the Nets another versatile player in the frontcourt with the ability to defend multiple positions. Players that can get the job done defensively are who Brooklyn should be looking into adding to their roster with the last few spots they may have.

In 20.8 minutes per game with the Nuggets, Paul Millsap averaged 9.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks.
