Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
When evaluating potential Ben Simmons trades, the Philadelphia 76ers need to add more pull-up shooting while not allowing the defensive impact of the unit to plummet.
Making a trade that features a return led by Fred VanVleet would add shot creation while OG Anunoby would maintain defensive versatility. Those are both skill-sets that would provide an intriguing new dynamic to the 76ers’ offense.
There would undoubtedly need to be multiple first round selections in a potential trade package for Ben Simmons or the 76ers would be unlikely to entertain it. Especially when considering how both VanVleet and Anunoby are high-quality players, but are not stars.
In this particular scenario, the Raptors would give up a pair of future first round picks outright but would also send a pick swap. When considering the lowered stock Simmons has in the trade value department, that is more fair than the offers they’ve reportedly turned down.

At some point, the situation with Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers could very well escalate and it would be wise to at least entertain more realistic parameters in trade discussions sooner rather than later.
