The Miami Heat did not have a selection in the 2021 NBA Draft to upgrade their roster. However, they wasted little time in upgrading things once it came to free agency.
Pat Riley and company got to work instantly during NBA free agency as they had multiple moves up their sleeves. They were able to retain Duncan Robinson, signing him to a five-year, $90 million deal. That is the biggest contract ever for an undrafted player.
Dewayne Dedmon, Max Strus and Gabe Vincent were all re-signed as well. They did lose point guard Kendrick Nunn and power forward Nemanja Bjelica. Shooting guard Victor Oladipo and forward Andre Iguodala are both free agents but unlikely to return to Miami.
The Heat was able to bring in some players from other teams to upgrade their roster and replace the outgoing players. Forward P.J. Tucker from the 2021 NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks was signed to a two-year deal. Forward Markieff Morris was signed away from the Los Angeles Lakers as well.
