The Philadelphia 76ers did well at the 2021 NBA Draft. They were able to fill the two biggest needs on their roster heading into the offseason. guard and center. But, questions still remain surrounding star Ben Simmons and his future with the franchise.
With the 28th pick in the draft, they selected Tennessee guard Jaden Springer. In the second round, they had the 50th and 53rd selections. At No. 50, they selected Filip Petrusev, who played at Gonzaga before heading overseas to the Serbian league. At 53, Western Kentucky center Charles Bassey was selected.
While the 76ers added depth to their roster, many people expected their shakeup to come via trade. The team was taking trade calls on Simmons, who once again came up short in the postseason.
The trade rumors swirling around Simmons persisted throughout the draft, but the 76ers had a very high asking price. They reportedly asked the Golden State Warriors for Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, the No. 7 and 14 picks in the 2021 NBA Draft and two future first-round picks.
Golden State turned that deal down, and the Toronto Raptors reportedly turned down their offer as well. Philadelphia asked them for Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby and the No. 4 overall selection.
While the asking price is high, the 76ers have to keep looking to make a deal. At this point, it would be a detriment to bring Simmons back. He knows the team has tried to trade him and the relationship seemed to be souring with some of the quotes given after Philadelphia was eliminated from the playoffs.
Which teams could still be a landing spot for Simmons? Here are three organizations that should still go all-out to trade for Simmons.
