JJ Redick
The 2020-21 season did not end as J.J. Redick had envisioned it. After trade talks began picking up involving him, he was under the impression that he would be going close to home. Had New Orleans not been able to find a trade, he would be bought out so he could sign with a team closer to his family.
Instead, Redick was sent even further away, landing with the Dallas Mavericks. He was unable to help the Mavericks much on their playoff push, as he missed the first 10 games after being acquired by them. He played in 13 of the next 17 games before getting injured again, missing the final three regular-season games and all of the postseason.
The 2020-21 season was a rocky one for Redick, as he also shot the ball poorly for his standards. His 37.1 3-point percentage was the second-lowest in a season for him in his career. Despite that, he is still going to garner some interest in free agency.
The Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers are all expected to show interest in him. While the Lakers are the furthest away from his family, there is where he will sign.

Redick will chase a ring as his career is winding down. The Lakers are going to be a popular destination for ring chasers this offseason as they will once again be title favorites. Redick will join them, adding some much-needed 3-point shooting to their roster.
