Dennis Schroder
The free agency roller coaster of Dennis Schroder began during the regular season. The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly offered him a four-year extension worth more than $80 million that he turned down.
It was shocking, to say the least. Schroder is a solid player, but turning down more than $20 million annually is a big risk. His performance in the postseason won’t do him any favors and it would be a surprise to see him surpass that number.
The Lakers have already had some discussions about possible sign-and-trade opportunities with him involving the Sacramento Kings and Washington Wizards. Both teams are uninterested in Schroder, leaving Los Angeles with fewer avenues to upgrade their roster via a sign-and-trade.
There are plenty of teams that need help at point guard this offseason, but pinpointing a spot for Schroder is difficult. He does not sound like he is anyone’s first option in free agency, so teams that strike out on the top tier of the free-agent class could turn to him.

After all of the smoke settles, the Dallas Mavericks will be who signs Schroder. They need another playmaker and scorer to help take some of the load off of Luka Doncic and Schroder will provide that.
