The Boston Celtics bolstered their frontcourt with the addition of Al Horford, but counting him at 35-years old to fill a major role is risky. With Tristan Thompson being traded to the Atlanta Hawks, there is now a bit of a need for some frontcourt help.

Robert Williams III, Grant Williams and Moses Brown, who was acquired along with Horford, are the only other big men currently on the roster. Adding a versatile player that could play both power forward and center would make some sense. One player that fits that bill is Larry Nance Jr.

It is anyone’s guess what the Cleveland Cavaliers are going to do this offseason. They acquired Ricky Rubio in a trade before the draft, in which they selected USC center Evan Mobley third overall. With Mobley and the possible re-signing of Jarrett Allen in restricted free agency, there aren’t many minutes available for a player such as Nance, especially when you account for Kevin Love still being in the fold.

Nance would bring the versatility that the Celtics are craving for their frontcourt. He stuffed the stat sheet, averaging 9.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 31.2 minutes per game.

His improving 3-point shot enables him to play either power forward or center alongside a player who may not be as comfortable playing on the perimeter. His ability to defend both spots in the frontcourt and switch onto the perimeter is another thing the Celtics would covet.
