Does this trade make sense for the Dallas Mavericks?
The Mavericks originally acquired Kristaps Porzingis to pair with Luka Doncic so they could become a staple in the postseason. They clinched another spot this year for the second year in a row. This time, Dallas was the fifth seed. They can continue to climb up the standings in the conference if they improve in certain areas.
This could be at the top of the offense. Dallas has become a playoff team in the Western Conference but have not been taken seriously as a championship contender. Walker could bring a new dynamic to the offense. He is not much of a threat defensively but could fit in well with Doncic in the backcourt.
It would also benefit Dallas to get rid of a disgruntled player. If Kristaps Porzingis is truly unhappy, they should cut ties and let him go to a different team. His attitude has been an ongoing concern and there have been recent NBA rumors about his lack of desire to play alongside Doncic.
This is not the first time Porzingis has been involved in drama. He was a headache for the Knicks prior to being traded. The Mavericks could be better off in more ways than one if they find a deal like this one. It seems at this point, there is quite a gap between his impact on the court and his personal perception of what he brings to his team.

While there is undoubtedly a range of concerns with Kemba Walker between his knee issues and age, he would be a cleaner fit than Porzingis. Walker has become a legitimately highly efficient spot-up threat in addition to being a shot creator and pick-and-roll orchestrator.
