The Toronto Raptors are heading toward a fork in the road this NBA offseason. The organization has to decide whether or not they are going to retool the roster and make a push in the Eastern Conference again or begin a rebuild.
An argument could be made for the Raptors to take either path. If the team wants to rebuild, now is the time to do it. They have the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft that can be the new centerpiece of the franchise.
Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet will both be 28 next season, so they would be able to get a nice haul in return for them. Whoever they acquire in those deals and select with the fourth pick will join OG Anunoby and Gary Trent Jr., if he is re-signed in restricted free agency, as the new core of the Raptors.
If they want to try contending, they have the No. 4 overall pick as a great trade chip they can use to add another established veteran to the roster. Kyle Lowry could be re-signed along with Trent Jr. and they could run it back one more time. These will all be key storylines to watch in rumors this NBA offseason.
