There is a lot of smoke developing around the possibility of a Bradley Beal trade this NBA offseason. The Washington Wizards superstar has been contemplating a trade request prior to the 2021 NBA Draft, although a decision has not yet been reached.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Dumas, Beal views the Boston Celtics as a ‘preferred destination’ in the event he were to be moved in a trade. His friendship with Jayson Tatum and ability to compete for a championship are among the reasons.
The Celtics clearly do need to add more offensive firepower in order to compete with the likes of the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets in the Eastern Conference. A healthy Nets squad boasts Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden while the Celtics have just two stars.
A real question when evaluating the Celtics as a potential trade destination for Bradley Beal is whether Jaylen Brown would have to be involved in a potential deal. Beal would be an upgrade from Brown but would Boston be willing to part with him to get a deal done?
Bradley Beal is coming off an impressive 2020-21 season that featured averages of 31.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists while converting at a clip of 48.5% from the field, 34.9% from the perimeter, and 88.9% on free throws. He shouldered a major offensive load in an effort to carry the Washington Wizards to a playoff appearance along with Russell Westbrook.
