The Boston Celtics had a disappointing 2020-21 NBA season and are ready to shake things up. The brain trust has already been changed, as Brad Stevens moved into the front office and Ime Udoka was hired to take his place.

Now, the two of them must work together to improve the roster so that the Celtics avoid the NBA Play-In Tournament. They won their game against the Washington Wizards, which earned them a first-round matchup and early exit at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets.

The goal for the Boston Celtics should be to upgrade the roster around their two franchise cornerstones, All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Having two players of that age that have developed as well as they have isn’t a luxury many teams have, so Boston has to start making the most of it.

Stevens will need to be aggressive this offseason to add talent to the roster. He already made one move, trading Kemba Walker to the Oklahoma City Thunder, along with a 2021 first-round pick and future second-round pick, in exchange for Al Horford and a future second-rounder.

The next move that the Celtics make should be with the Portland Trail Blazers, but not for Damian Lillard. Instead, they should target CJ McCollum.

Portland has been receiving interest in Portland, but thus far, the offers are what they are looking for. Teams are offering the chance to move up in the draft, but the Trail Blazers want to win now and would prefer players to help them do that. This is something that has spread in trade rumors around the NBA.

The Celtics can provide them what they’re looking for. Here is the best trade the Boston Celtics can offer the Portland Trail Blazers for CJ McCollum.
