The one true knock against Chris Paul is his age. He turned 36-years old this season and Father Time is undefeated. While his impact was certainly felt, it may not be the worst thing if the Suns acquire a point guard closer to the timeline of the rest of the roster, and Fred VanVleet would present that.

Trading for a player such as VanVleet is dependent on what the Toronto Raptors decided to do this offseason. If they decide to reload and make a playoff push, VanVleet would certainly be off the table. But, if they opt to begin a rebuild, VanVleet could be had in a trade.

The former Wichita State product only turned 27 this year, but if the Raptors are embracing a rebuild this offseason, he would be an iffy fit for their timeline. They would likely see what assets they could get for him and Pascal Siakam and build a new core around OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr. and the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

For Phoenix, VanVleet would be a great backcourt partner with Devin Booker. He is interchangeable at either guard spot, as he can initiate the offense or get aggressive when looking for his own shot.

The championship experience he has would also be beneficial for Phoenix, as he knows what it takes to win a title.
