Does this trade make sense for the Cleveland Cavaliers?

Collin Sexton could be eligible for a huge contract extension in the near future. This might not be something that the Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in. If this is the case, it would be worth it to see what he is worth on the open market. Right now, that would be a decent amount given the interest around Sexton.

The Cavaliers would be able to get more from other teams for Sexton. If he is sent away, this will open up some playing time for some younger guards. The Cavaliers have loaded up on prospects. Garland and Isaac Okoro would immediately become the focal point of the team moving forward.

Cleveland has plenty of options with the third pick in this year’s draft. If Evan Mobley is the pick, he would solidify the frontcourt but they could also opt for Jalen Suggs or Jalen Green, if he makes it past Houston.

If this happens, that guard would become the new weapon at the top of the offense. Sexton is clogging up the top now and removing him would clear up some space.

Cleveland has some time left before they will be able to compete. They have to build a winner in many areas and this trade could help them get there a bit quicker.
