New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are heading into the 2021 NBA Draft with four selections. They have the No. 19, 21, 32 and 58 selections.

Given Tom Thibodeau’s preference for veteran players, it is unlikely the Knicks will be adding four rookies to the roster this season. So, they could be looking to move up and Scottie Barnes would be an excellent target for them.

While Barnes wouldn’t help the Knicks’ ability to score right now, his playmaking would be nice to have in case the Knicks strike out this offseason when it comes to adding a point guard. Barnes projects as an elite-level passer in the NBA and if that comes from the forward spot, so be it.

While he prefers using veterans, Barnes’ ready-made defensive game is something even Thibodeau would love to get his hands on. He has the size and athleticism to defend every position on the court, giving the defensive mastermind Thibodeau a true Swiss-Army knife to use on that side of the court.

Barnes has a profile similar to Ben Simmons. Both are great playmakers and defenders but have some developing to do offensively. Hopefully, Barnes can rectify his shooting woes more than Simmons has been able to thus far.
