NBA free agency is right around the corner, with the first day of the chaotic period of the offseason set to take place on Aug. 2nd. There are a handful of notable free agents set to hit the open market, giving teams plenty of directions to go when it comes to improving their rosters.

While there could be plenty of trades that transpire this offseason, free agency is going to have a few moments that causes fans to react one way or another.

There was a lot of hype around this 2021 free agency class for years leading up to it with a variety of big-name players set to be in it. The headliner of it all was meant to be two-time MVP and now champion, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has long since decided to sign long-term with the Milwaukee Bucks.

That proved to be the right decision for Antetokounmpo as he hoisted up the Larry O’Brian trophy after leading the Bucks over the Phoenix Suns in the 2021 NBA Finals.

With Antetokounmpo no longer set to hit the open market, teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat who preserved a lot of salary cap space in hopes of signing him will have to turn elsewhere to make a key roster upgrade.

Kawhi Leonard has become the largest name to track in rumors leading up to NBA free agency but even the enthusiasm surrounding his options has diminished after the news broke that he underwent potentially season-ending surgery to repair a partially torn ACL.

NBA free agency goes well beyond the star-power that could be available, however. There are no shortage of players to track in rumors who will be available that could help their new squad reach new heights.

In light of that, let’s take a look at one free agent target that each team in the Western Conference should pursue this summer.
