Boston Celtics Receive: G Bradley Beal
Washington Wizards Receive: G Evan Fournier (via sign-and-trade), G Marcus Smart, G Carsen Edwards, BOS 2022 1st Round Pick (Swap, More Favorable to WAS), BOS 2023 1st Round Pick (Unprotected), BOS 2024 1st Round Pick (Swap, More Favorable to WAS), BOS 2025 1st Round Pick (Unprotected), BOS 2027 1st Round Pick (Unprotected)
The Washington Wizards would definitely be interested in hearing out the Boston Celtics on a Bradley Beal trade if they were to include Jaylen Brown in any trade proposals, but this trade outlined above definitely brings a ton of value to Washington.
If the Wizards are to trade Bradley Beal, they will not only want a ton of future assets, but they will also want guys who can contribute immediately so this team can still compete in the Eastern Conference with Russell Westbrook.
Both Evan Fournier and Marcus Smart are more than capable of contributing immediately and they could both fit in quite nicely next to Westbrook. Smart has always been known to be a “3-and-D” type of shooting guard who can play with or without the ball in his hands and Evan Fourneir could be used as a catch-and-shoot threat on the perimeter in a Westbrook-led offense.
Carsen Edwards is also an intriguing young prospect that could be of interest to the Wizards. Trading Beal leaves the Wizards’ backcourt very thin, especially with Raul Neto and Ish Smith both being free agents this offseason. At Purdue, Edwards was an offensive star and averaged 24.3 points per game his final season, which is why he could potentially make a difference as Russell Westbrook’s back-up if given the chance.

Bringing in Bradley Beal to pair with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown would create one of the best scoring trios in the NBA and would absolutely rival that of the Nets’ “Big 3” with Harden, Iring and Durant. I am not insinuating that the Celtics’ new “Big 3” would beat out the Nets’ “Big 3,” but they would definitely have the firepower and starpower offensively to be one of the better teams in the entire league.
Financially, the Celtics can make a trade like this work, especially if they would be able to include Evan Fournier in a sign-and-trade scenario for Bradley Beal. They have the draft assets that would be of interest to the Wizards and a lot of young talents as well in Aaron Nesmith, Payton Pritchard and others that could be included in the deal instead of Carsen Edwards.

There is a lot to sort out in a potential Bradley Beal trade, but even if they get all the details right, the Wizards still may decline to trade Beal since he is their best player. The Wizards believe that they have something special going for them right now with their powerful duo in the backcourt, so trading Bradley Beal may not be something they look to do this offseason.
Nonetheless, let’s take a look at this trade from both the Boston Celtics’ and the Washington Wizards’ points of view to see if this is a trade that would make sense for them moving forward into the 2021-22 season.
