Once again, the primary need for the Boston Celtics right now is the point guard position.
After coming up short with Walker and Kyrie Irving, it may be best for Boston to bring in a point guard that doesn’t need the ball constantly to be effective.
One name that should definitely be of interest to the Celtics is Patty Mills of the San Antonio Spurs. Mills has long been a favorite of Greg Popovich’s, but his time with the Spurs could be coming to a close.
For the majority of his career, Mills has operated as a go-to spark off of the bench as San Antonio’s backup point guard. Throughout his time with the Spurs, Mills has accrued 8.9 points per game on 38.8 percent shooting from deep.

The Celtics could use a wily veteran like Mills in their rotation, whether it be in the starting lineup or off of the bench. Among the cheap options in free agency, Mills makes the most sense for Boston.
