Aside from needing a point guard that can thrive alongside Tatum and Brown, the Celtics could use more shooting on their roster. And with Tatum, Brown, and Marcus Smart expected to operate as starters, Boston needs to improve the shooting on their bench unit.
Why not target a three-point shooter that can also bring plenty of experience to the table as well?
Wesley Matthews signed with the Los Angeles Lakers before the 2020-2021 season, but he didn’t have a consistent role. His inconsistent role resulted in him shooting a career-worst 33.5 percent from outside this season.
Despite his lackluster performance this year, Matthews is still a veteran shooting guard that would be a decent addition for a playoff team.

Even if Matthews isn’t converting threes consistently, the Celtics could use a veteran player that could be a glue guy in the locker room like Matthews.
