Does this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?
The Orlando Magic had a fire sale at the NBA trade deadline. This was not surprising given the current state of the franchise and now they are completely in rebuild mode. The Eastern Conference is weak near the bottom and the Magic could replenish assets as soon as possible.
Malik Beasley would give them a replacement scorer on the offensive end of the floor. Markelle Fultz suffered a torn ACL, which hindered his progress this season.
In year one, Cole Anthony has looked like the real deal and this could be the backcourt that Orlando looks to build around. After moving on from Evan Fournier, there’s a void left behind at the shooting guard position and Beasley would fill it better than RJ Hampton.
Beasley would only add to that notion. He showed that he is a talented scorer that can get it done at all three levels. Orlando is certainly not a finished product but could look to be aggressive in the offseason.
