New York Knicks Receive: G Bradley Beal, F Chandler Hutchinson
Washington Wizards Receive: G/F RJ Barrett, F Obi Toppin, F Kevin Knox, 2021 First-Round Pick (via NYK), 2023 First-Round Pick (via DAL), 2024 First-Round Pick (via NYK)
Any trade talks the Knicks have with other teams about superstar-level players are likely to start and end with RJ Barrett. In this deal, the Wizards get their man.
Barrett gives Washington a legitimate building block to begin their rebuild with. He took major strides during his sophomore season, increasing his stats across the board. The most impressive improvement came in his shooting, as he made 44.1 percent of his shots, 40.1 percent of his 3-pointers and 74.6 percent of his free throws after posting percentages of 40.2, 32.0 and 61.4 as a rookie.
The fact Barrett shot as well from the 3-point line as a sophomore as he did from everywhere on the court as a rookie speaks to how much work he put in during the offseason to transform his shot.
The Wizards also get building blocks for their frontcourt with Obi Toppin and Kevin Knox. With the inclusion of Barrett, the draft compensation is not as much as he is worth multiple first-round picks on his own. But, three first-round picks is still a solid haul for Washington.
