6. Oklahoma City Thunder
Scottie Barnes, SF, Florida State
When it comes to potential and expectations, Scottie Barnes is up there with any player in the 2021 NBA Draft. He has a chance to bring great versatility to a team that could use it. The Oklahoma City Thunder would be buying into a prospect with star qualities and that will only grow once his jump shot develops a bit more. Barnes can guard all five positions and does many things well on the offensive end of the floor.
7. Golden State Warriors (from Minnesota Timberwolves)
Davion Mitchell, PG, Baylor
Davion Mitchell falling into the lap of the Golden State Warriors is a pick that could be meant to be. One of the oldest prospects in the 2021 NBA Draft, Mitchell has great experience and could contribute right away to a win-now team like Golden State. Mitchell is the best perimeter defender in the draft and showed an ability to score at all three levels during Baylor’s championship run. His stock went through the roof during the NCAA Tournament and for good reason.
8. Orlando Magic (from Chicago Bulls)
James Bouknight, PG, UConn
After adding an elite athlete like Kuminga, the Magic could be looking to improve their backcourt further. This is where a scoring threat like James Bouknight comes into play. In Orlando, Bouknight would be relied on right away and this is where his scoring prowess would transfer well. He would join Markelle Fultz and Cole Anthony in a young, talented backcourt.
9. Sacramento Kings
Jalen Johnson, SF, Duke
The Sacramento Kings landed Tyrese Haliburton last year to pair with De’Aaron Fox. The backcourt seems to be trending in the right direction and now it is time to balance out the lineup. There are question marks surrounding Jalen Johnson after playing just 13 games with Duke. During those games, he showed an impressive jump shot and ability at 6-foot-9. If the Kings pass on Johnson, he could fall near the end of the round so it all depends if the Kings feel confident enough in what they saw.
10. New Orleans Pelicans
Moses Moody, SG, Arkansas
It is time to put some pieces around Zion Williamson in New Orleans. A quick guard with great length and scoring ability seems like a good fit. Moses Moody checks all the boxes for the Pelicans. They might be looking to add a point guard but if both Mitchell and Bouknight are off the board, Moody would be the next best fit.
