Does this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?

Quite honestly, anything makes sense for the Kings right now because they are not close to being a threat. They have gone 31-41 in back-to-back seasons now, which is not terrible at all, but this team is really lacking overall talent.

De’Aaron Fox looks like a guy who can have an All-Star, breakout season next year and Tyrse Haliburton is going to consistently improve, but what else does this team really have going for them? By the looks of things right now, it seems like they will be losing Richaun Holmes in the offseason, Harrison Barnes is getting older and Marvin Bagley III seems unhappy with his current situation, liking posts on social media talking about him leaving Sacramento.

Buddy Hield really does not bring anything to the table long-term for the Kings, which is why they would be smart to trade him now while he is considered valuable. They can get a lottery pick for him from the New Orleans Pelicans, which is why they should take advantage of this opportunity.

By trading Hield in this deal with New Orleans, the Kings would not only get a back-up plan at the center position in Steven Adams, but they would add another lottery pick, a 26-year-old forward in Wes Iwundu and they would also free up $5.4M in cap space, which they really could utilize moving forward.

Eventually, Sacramento’s playoff drought is going to come to an end and they will make the playoffs, but that is unlikely to happen next year. Too many other teams in the Western Conference have more talent and better built rosters, which is why the Kings should leverage Buddy Hield.

He is not the difference-maker in terms of them making the playoffs during the 2021-22 season and they could really use the 10th pick in the draft behind their own 9th pick, which is why the Kings would be smart to accept this deal with the Pelicans if it was proposed to them.
