#1 Yam Madar – Boston Celtics*
*Note: Yam Madar was drafted by the Celtics in 47th overall in 2020. He is set to join the Boston Celtics in summer league this year.
Many may not know much about Yam Madar, but the 20-year-old guard may finally be coming to Boston after spending the last year overseas in Israel. With Hapoel Tel Aviv this year, Madar averaged 17.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists and shot 40.9% from three-point range, making him a very intriguing guard prospect for Boston.
The reason he finds himself as the best point guard option for the Celtics to pursue this offseason is because they would not have to pay him a lot on a multi-year contract and he brings professional playing experience with him to the NBA.
Madar would definitely be a work-in-progress for the Celtics and it could take time for him to get used to playing in the NBA, but he is set to participate for Boston in NBA Summer League this year, giving the Celtics a first-look at what he could potentially be for them during the 2021-22 season.
The biggest question mark surrounding Yam Madar when the Celtics first drafted him as a “draft-and-stash” international prospect was his jump shot, but he shot just under 41% from deep this past season in Israel in 30 games. This is a pretty strong sample size to evaluate the young guard from and his game should carry over to the NBA quite nicely.

Yam Madar is a low-risk, high-reward type of player for the Boston Celtics and while they need more established talent on their bench, he could easily work his way into a key contributor for many years to come. He has the size, versatility and ball-handling skills that the Celtics need in a new point guard, which is why Madar is a guy to watch this summer on the Celtics’ radar.
