Boston Celtics Receive: G Malcolm Brogdon
Indiana Pacers Receive: G Evan Fournier (Sign-and-Trade), 2023 first-round pick (lottery protected) and 2023 second-round pick
This is a sign-and-trade deal that would work out for both sides. Evan Fournier was acquired by the Celtics from the Orlando Magic for multiple future second-round picks before the deadline. They used a large chunk of their Gordon Hayward trade exception to land him.
That trade exception usage is why many people speculated that the Celtics would do everything they could to retain Fournier, as it would have been seen as a wasted asset. However, if they can flip him to better balance out the roster and upgrade their point guard position, they should seriously consider it.
Fournier would bring some much-needed 3-point shooting to the Pacers, as they were middle of the road last season in percentage, attempts and makes per game.
His scoring prowess could help offset the potential losses of Doug McDermott in NBA free agency and if T.J. Warren is unable to return to form after undergoing season-ending foot surgery in January.

With none of the Celtics’ younger prospects included in this deal, they include a future first-round pick in addition to the second-round pick in 2022. If Indiana insists on having one of the younger Celtics, whether it be Langford, Pritchard, Aaron Nesmith or Robert Williams, the draft compensation should be adjusted accordingly.
