Does this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?

If the Golden State Warriors are to contend for more championships, they need to go “all-in” on maximizing Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in their primes. This would mean trading for another high-level, All-Star talent, which is exactly why they should trade for Damian Lillard if given the chance.

Figuring out how a backcourt duo of Damian Lillard, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson would work is definitely a major challenge, but at the end of the day, all three of these guys are All-Stars, so they are used to playing with other high-level talents.

One key thing to talk about in regards to Lillard and Golden State talks as well is that both Dame and Curry had a lot of fun playing with one another on Team LeBron in this year’s All-Star game. In fact, Damian Lillard talked about playing with Stephen Curry ahead of the 2021 NBA All-Star game and stated that he was most excited to play with Curry.

In this All-Star game, Curry and Lillard put on a show while on the court together, draining long-range threes and almost creating a competition amongst each other to see who could hit the longest shot! These two on the same team, as well as Klay Thompson being the third option, would be an absolute show each and every night they take the court and they would be unstoppable.

Not virtually unstoppable, this team would be straight up unstoppable on the offensive-end of the court. Damian Lillard and Stephen Curry already are two of the most unguardable players in the entire NBA, so how is any team in the league going to be able to slow them both down at the same time!

If Portland is willing to listen to trade offers for Lillard this offseason, there is no reason why the Golden State Warriors should not try to acquire him. Yes, he plays the same position as Stephen Curry and financially, the Warriors would have to pay a fortune to keep these guys together, but opportunities like this do not present themselves in the NBA.

James Wiseman could grow into an All-Star and Andrew Wiggins could grow into a premier two-way wing in this league, but these are “could’s.” Acquiring Damian Lillard “would” mean that the Warriors would be one of the best teams in the league and to me, this team would be unstoppable on offense.
