Detroit Pistons Receive: F Kenrich Williams, OKC 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick #6), BOS 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick #16), OKC 2021 2nd Round Pick (Pick #34), LAC 2022 1st Round Pick (unprotected)
Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: DET 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick #1), TOR 2021 2nd Round Pick (Pick #37)

For the purposes of a player being involved in the trade, Kenrich Williams is just thrown in here and a filler, but most likely, the Thunder could probably get a deal done for the first overall pick with just other draft picks. The only question though is how many draft picks would Oklahoma City have to forfeit in order to grab the Pistons top pick this year?

This is a very prized first overall pick that Detroit has because of how unique this draft class is. There is solid talent all throughout the first-round, but the Top-5 guys in this year’s draft class really do possess All-Star-like potential.

Cade Cunningham highlights all of these guys, as he is a 6’8” point guard whose offensive game is extremely polished, but Jalen Green, Evan Mobley, Jalen Suggs and Jonathan Kuminga are all worthy draft choices for anybody picking inside the Top-5 this year.

If the Thunder were to sacrifice three first-round picks and an early second-round pick this year for the first overall pick, they would definitely be moving up to grab Cade Cunningham, but Detroit may want that extra first-round pick from the Thunder.

Oklahoma City owns the 6th, 16th and 18th picks in the first-round of the draft this year and in this trade proposal, they would be holding onto the 18th pick. Detroit may very well want all three of these picks in addition to future compensation if they were to trade away the first overall pick.

This trade proposal is certainly an option and does offer up a lot of compensation to the Detroit Pistons, but it still seems like something may be missing. As a result, let’s take a look at if this trade truly makes sense for both teams and if the Pistons are interested in moving down in this trade with the Thunder.
