Finding a starting point guard that can orchestrate the offense or serve his role correctly is key in the NBA. However, having a backup point guard that can operate the second unit or spell the starter is also vital to success.

Teams across the association love to have point guards that play mistake-free basketball and bring different elements to the court.

The Memphis Grizzlies have a crowded backcourt with Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Grayson Allen, and De’Anthony Melton. That could make someone like Tyus Jones available on the trade market.

Jones has never had a prominent role in the NBA, but he’s always been a solid backup point guard in his six years in the league.

Throughout his career, Jones has never averaged more than one turnover per game and he’s recorded 3.6 assists per game. The former first-round pick out of Duke would be an excellent acquisition for a contending team that needs a No. 2 point guard.
