Zach LaVine receives contract extension from Chicago Bulls
Zach LaVine is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2022. If he reached the open market, he would receive a multitude of offers from around the league as a budding superstar. The Bulls cannot let that happen and need to lock up LaVine with a max extension.
LaVine has been on a career trajectory teams love to see and it resulted in his first All-Star appearance in 2021. Many more should be on the horizon, as LaVine averaged 27.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.5 blocks in 35.1 minutes per game.
The efficiency in which he scored was remarkable, as he knocked down 50.7 percent overall from the field, 41.9 percent from the 3-point line and 84.9 percent from the foul line. Just how remarkable was it? Look at the company he joined this season.
That is someone you lock up as soon as you can. Signing LaVine would cement the Bulls’ plan and give them some peace of mind going forward. There is financial incentive for him to wait until next offseason to get a deal done, but he does have an injury history, so that’s something to consider.

The Chicago Bulls would avoid all of the media hoopla discussing his future and if he will be traded should the team start the season off slowly.
