Heat, Warriors, Nets would be interested in Kevin Love if bought out

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love is one of three remaining players from the roster that made it to the NBA Finals in 2018. However, that number could drop should Love secure a buyout from the organization. If he does secure that buyout, Love will receive interest from quite a few teams, including the Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, and Golden State Warriors.

The Cavaliers are rebuilding, so there is little use for a soon-to-be 33-year old big man that is signed through 2023 and has battled injuries in recent seasons. Love last hit the 60 game plateau during the 2016-17 season and has played 25 or fewer games in two of the last three seasons.

Right now, despite that, it is being reported that at least three teams would be interested in him should Cleveland buy him out.

According to NBA Analysis’s own Evan Massey, the Miami Heat are one team to keep an eye on. They are big fans of pairing Love with Bam Adebayo in their frontcourt. Love’s floor spacing and rebounding would fill two major needs for Miami.

From the NBA Analysis Network, via the San Francisco Chronicle, the Golden State Warriors are the second team that would be interested in bringing Love aboard should he get bought out and look to sign for the veteran’s minimum.

With Klay Thompson expected to return this season, the Warriors are once again instant contenders, especially if they can flip James Wiseman and one of their first-round picks in this year’s draft for an established player.

Last but not least, we have the Brooklyn Nets. This should come as no surprise, as plenty of veterans will be looking to latch on with them to chase a ring alongside their Big 3 of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving. They are the one team that could give Love a chance to compete for a ring more than the Heat or Warriors.

This past season, veterans Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge both joined the Nets after securing buyouts from their teams.

Kevin Love is playing with Team USA this summer, so it will be a good chance to showcase that he is healthy. If he does that and secures a buyout, the list of interested teams will likely grow. For now, we will have our eyes on the Heat, Nets, and Warriors.
