Does this trade make sense for the New York Knicks?
Malcolm Brogdon would be an excellent acquisition for the Knicks this offseason for a few reasons. He has $44.3M and two years remaining on his contract, which is extremely affordable given his production over the last few seasons.
This year with the Indiana Pacers, Brogdon had arguably the best year of his career, as he averaged 21.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists and shot 45.3% from the floor. His overall scoring and playmaking abilities would be so valuable to New York not only because they need a point guard, but because they desperately need another reliable scoring option next to Julius Randle.
R.J. Barrett has turned himself into a potential All-Star talent for the Knicks to build with next to Randle for a long-time to come, but he is still young and growing. Adding Brogdon to this group gives them three high-level scorers to play around with offensively, which should be enough to make the Knicks a real threat in the Eatsern Conference.
Aside from keeping both Barrett and Randle in this trade, the best part about this trade for the Knicks is that they really do not give up a ton of value. New York is rumored to be interested in trading the 19th and 21st pick in this year’s draft if they can get a solidified talent and Brogdon is just that.

Losing Immanuel Quickley does hurt the Knicks given the upside he presents, but ultimately, they would be getting rid of a ton of unknowns for a borderline All-Star player in Malcolm Brogdon. This is a perfect trade for the Knicks, but it is hard to imagine that Indiana would take this offer given the situation they are in.
