Prediction: Traded to Dallas Mavericks

While Damian Lillard remains in Portland, the Trail Blazers elect to move his running mate in CJ McCollum this offseason. McCollum has operated as the second fiddle to Lillard in the last six seasons, scoring 20+ points per game in each of those seasons.

Despite CJ McCollum’s ability to score on all three levels, his fit alongside Damian Lillard has been put into question. And with Portland needing answers, McCollum could be the odd-man out.

The Dallas Mavericks are a team that could become interested in CJ McCollum due to his ability to be effective in a variety of ways. The Mavs will pursue a secondary ball handler and while they want one ‘with some size’ and McCollum isn’t the tallest guard, he is among the most talented.

Getting CJ McCollum would give Luka Doncic much-needed help on offense, and he would improve the spacing around the young superstar. In this trade scenario, the Trail Blazers and the Mavericks swap McCollum for Kristaps Porzingis, along with other pieces.
