3. Derrick Rose Can Be A Go-To Scorer When Needed
First up, the Lakers are in major need of finding another scorer who can step up when LeBron James and Anthony Davis need a break. They did not have that scorer during the 2020-21 season.
Kyle Kuzma was a guy that the Lakers were hoping could rise into that role. However, he has not developed the way the franchise was hoping. In fact, many believe that Los Angeles will try to move him this offseason.
Rose may not be the superstar that he once was back in his prime, but he is still a capable scorer. He can create his own shots, create for his teammates, as well as an improved three-point shooting ability. Those are the offensive skills that the Lakers need to find this offseason.
Signing Rose may not be the move that ends up fixing all of their issues, but bringing him in would be a great start. Depending on the price tag, the Lakers should have no trouble getting a deal done with him. Rose would likely enjoy the opportunity to sign in L.A. and compete alongside LeBron James for a ring.
This is a scenario that Lakers fans have been hoping to see for years now. Rose isn’t an MVP candidate anymore, but he could be a piece that helps power Los Angeles back into NBA Finals contention.
