Jerami Grant – Detroit Pistons
One of the breakout players of the 2020-21 season was Jerami Grant. After signing a three-year, $60M deal with Detroit last offseason, Grant exploded onto the scene this year, averaging 22.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assist and shooting 42.9% from the floor.
For years, Grant was always viewed as a consistent “3-and-D” guy on the wing, but was never given the opportunity to prove what he could do as “the guy” for a team. Now, in Detroit, Jerami Grant is “the guy” and he proved to the rest of the league that he can be more than just a role player.
This has definitely caught the attention of many league executives, including Rob Pelinka, as the Lakers are a team that has come up in NBA trade rumors recently connected to Jerami Grant.
Whether or not the Pistons would trade him is another story, but a potential swap of Kyle Kuzma (and others) for Jerami Grant would definitely be beneficial for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Not only is Grant a much better defensive player than Kyle Kuzma, but he is definitely much more polished in terms of being able to create for himself on the offensive-end of the court, as seen by what he did this year in Detroit. Kuzma also was born in Flint, Michigan, so going back “home” could definitely be of value to him.
He may not be the most eye-popping name that the Lakers could go after, but Jerami Grant is more than capable of being that “third star” on a championship-worthy roster like the Lakers.
Paired up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, this team would have a ton of size and likely be one of the best defensive teams in the league once again.
