After losing to the Denver Nuggets in six games in the first-round of this year’s NBA playoffs, the Portland Trail Blazers decided to part ways with long-time head coach Terry Stotts. Now, they are not only looking to bring in a new coach this offseason, but they are looking for ways to make their roster better in order to contend for a championship.
With one of the best players in the entire league in Damian Lillard, it seems like the Trail Blazers are going to be in the playoff discussion in the Western Conference for years to come, but they do have some major holes to fill.
C.J. McCollum has been a great number two option next to Lillard over the years and they have other key role players in Robert Covington, Jusef Nurkic and Norman Powell, who they added at the trade deadline this year, but this is not enough to make them a true contender.
Norman Powell is expected to decline his player option and become a free agent this offseason, Carmelo Anthony is an unrestricted free agent this offseason and the Trail Blazers are terrible defensively, so where does this team go from here?
