4 teams who should pursue a trade for Rockets’ Christian Wood

Christian Wood. Houston Rockets, NBA Trade Rumors

The Houston Rockets didn’t have the season they envisioned having this year, recording the NBA’s worst record at 17-55. After acquiring John Wall in a swap for Russell Westbrook, the Rockets believed they had a team that was good enough to vie for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Despite the abysmal showing from the team during regular season, Christian Wood was one of the few bright spots on the roster.

Wood inked a three-year, $41 million deal with the Rockets before being involved in a sign-and-trade that sent him from the Detroit Pistons to Houston before the 2020-21 campaign.

Prior to joining the Rockets, Wood had just completed a career year with the Pistons where he recorded 13.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while making 56.7 percent of his shots from the floor.

In the 41 games he suited up for Houston this season, Wood registered 21 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 51.4 percent from the field.

Even though Wood is 25 years old and Houston likely views him as a long-term fixture in their lineup, there are teams that could express interest in making a trade offer for him this offseason. With that in mind, let’s take a look at a few teams that should consider pursuing Wood via trade from the Rockets.
