Norman Powell has evolved into being a factor on all three-levels offensively
We talked about Powell being an above-average defender on the perimeter, but he is also highly skilled on the offensive-end of the court. Given his length and athleticism, he can play well-above the rim in transition and in the half-court, Powell is more than capable of being a spot-up shooter.
Transition-wise, Powell seemed to make his own “highlight tape” this season, punishing the rim with the basketball on numerous occasions, but the biggest improvements he made to his game was improving his jump shot.
Over the years, Powell has been improving more and more as a perimeter threat on offense and this season, he shot a career-high 41.1% from three-point range.
In Portland, he did not play as well as he did in Toronto with the Raptors, but all-in-all Powell is a guy that could easily have a breakout season moving forward like Jerami Grant did with the Pistons this year.

Everything about Powell’s game proves that he is more than a role player in this league and he could easily be that third key player the Knicks need to make it past the first-round of the playoffs next year.
Being a factor at all three levels on offense is extremely valuable in today’s league and that is exactly the kind of offensive threat that Norman Powell is. The Knicks need scoring and they can get that with a guy like Powell on the wing.
