The Miami Heat are entering what could be a very entertaining offseason for the franchise. After being knocked out easily by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, Pat Riley could look to make some changes to the roster. Could Dallas Mavericks star big man Kristaps Porzingis be a potential target for Miami?

Rumors have been swirling in Dallas that the Mavericks could look to trade Porzingis this offseason. His fit alongside Luka Doncic has been questioned, especially after a very bad playoff run. If the Mavs truly do want to trade him, the Heat would absolutely be a logical potential landing spot.

During the 2020-21 NBA season with the Mavericks, Porzingis ended up averaging 20.1 points per game to go along with 8.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He also blocked 1.3 shots per game. In addition to those averages, Porzingis shot 47.6 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 37.6 percent of his three-point attempts.

How good of a fit would Porzingis be with the Heat? Due to his ability to stretch the floor, he could fit seamlessly alongside Bam Adebayo in the front-court. He would be able to mainly focus on the offensive end of the floor with Adebayo being a good rim protector and rebounder, but we’ll go deeper into his fit in Miami later on in the article.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at how the Heat could pull off a trade with the Mavericks to acquire Kristaps Porzingis.
