What to expect from the Houston Rockets this offseason?

Other than being aggressive on draft night to add more young talent to their roster, the Houston Rockets will likely hold off on making any significant moves. Trading John Wall seems impossible at this point because nobody is going to want to take on the remaining $91.6M on his contract through the 2022-23 season, but moving Eric Gordon is a real possibility.

Sources have told NBA Analysis Network that Gordon will draw interest from several playoff contending teams in the offseason, even though he is under contract through the 2023-24 season, with the final year of his contract being non-guaranteed.

“Eric Gordon is an interesting name to keep an eye on this offseason because he does not seem to fit into Houston’s long-term plans. While he is older (32-years-old), Gordon is still an experienced and proven two-way player on the wing that can help numerous teams around the league, should he remain healthy.”

Moving Gordon for more future assets is definitely something that would be intriguing for the Rockets not only because they get more future draft picks, but because they would get his $58.7M over the next three years off their books, giving Houston a chance to go after more talent in future offseasons.

Draft wise, the Houston Rockets are going to be very busy looking for ways to add more talent to their team. Having back-to-back picks in the first-round of the draft is extremely valuable and they could definitely look to leverage both of these picks for an established, All-Star-caliber player.

Nobody said the post-James Harden era would be easy for the Houston Rockets, but with a ton of young talent with a lot of potential, this organization is definitely already heading in the right direction with their rebuild.
