What to expect from the Golden State Warriors this offseason?

This offseason is going to be extremely exciting for the Warriors in terms of looking for ways to not only add more talent around their core, but continue building their core of the future with Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman and potentially two first-round picks from this year’s draft.

Unlike when they signed Kevin Durant in free agency in 2016, the Warriors will not be able to go after big names in free agency this year with them way over the hard cap. However, they could be in line to make some trades to bring in more talent to their roster. If Kelly Oubre Jr. does not want to stay with the Warriors, they could look to execute a sign-and-trade with another team in order to not only bring in some value, but create a pretty decent sized trade exception for themselves.

Golden State’s GM Bob Myers has stated numerous times that he intends to keep both Wiggins and Wiseman this offseason and not trade them, which makes Kelly Oubre Jr. the only real trade asset that could bring some value to the Warriors roster.

Whether or not Oubre Jr. returns to the Warriors next season, this team will still have plenty of opportunities to improve. Klay Thompson returning gives them a huge boost and as mentioned previously, the Warriors have a chance to add two high-level lottery picks to their roster this offseason.

Also, with Jordan Poole having a breakout season, Juan Toscano-Anderson emerging as a great role player and then Damion Lee also expected to be back, the Warriors have a chance to be special during the 2021-22 season, but there is a lot of work to be done in the offseason to add a little bit more talent to this roster.

Bob Myers and the entire Warriors front-office are always busy and looking for ways to improve their team, which is why we should expect nothing less from them this offseason. The Warriors have had a couple of down years, but it should not come as a shock to see them be one of the best teams in the Western Conference next season.
