Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks haven’t even gotten to the offseason yet and major changes are being made following the rumors that superstar Luka Doncic was unhappy. Donnie Nelson has been fired from his longtime role as President of Basketball Operations and some roster movement could happen as well. Could the Mavericks look to acquire a fellow back-court star to play alongside Luka Doncic like Indiana Pacers star Malcolm Brogdon?

So far this offseason, one report that has made sense for the Mavericks is that they would like to add a secondary ball-handler to take pressure off of Doncic. Brogdon would fill that role, as he has proven he can be a star over the past couple of years with the Pacers.

During the 2020-21 NBA season with Indiana, Brogdon ended up averaging 21.2 points per game to go along with 5.9 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 0.9 steals. He shot 45.3 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 38.8 percent of his three-point attempts. Those numbers show just a bit of Brogdon’s skill-set.

If the Mavericks do want to add a secondary star in the back-court, Brogdon could very well be the best fit. He has been a ball-dominant guard with the Pacers, but actually thrived as an elite shooter during his time playing with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Back in the 2018-19 season, Brogdon shot 42.6 percent from the three-point line.

All of that being said, what would it take for the Mavericks to be able to acquire Malcolm Brogdon from the Pacers?
