It was a solid return for Norman Powell, who is entering NBA free agency this summer himself. Gary Trent Jr. is also, but he will be a restricted free agent.
Retaining the 22-year old Trent Jr. would be a great move for Toronto, giving them a backcourt to build around alongside Fred VanVleet. He thrived when Toronto was ravaged by injuries and has shown the ability to be a go-to scorer.
Gary Trent Jr. will be in high demand this offseason given his age and scoring ability. Being a restricted free agent, he could land some massive offer sheets. To avoid having to pay a dollar amount they are uncomfortable with, the Raptors should get a deal done as quickly as possible with Trent Jr. to keep him in town leading up to his prime years.
