This Rockets-Wizards trade features Christian Wood to D.C.

Does this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?

In no way shape or form does this trade make any sense for the Rockets. If they are going to trade away Christian Wood, then they might as well trade away Kevin Porter Jr., Jae’Sean Tate and Keyon Martin Jr. as well and then move the franchise overseas to play in a less competitive league!

This is the NBA and teams do not just trade away their best players for nothing, especially when they are going through a rebuild process. Deni Avdija and Rui Hachimura are not necessarily “nothing,” but their talents combined do not equate to the production that Christian Wood gave the Rockets this season.

If the Rockets were to trade Christian Wood in the offseason, they would have to be getting at least one first-round pick and another high-quality young talent. Right now, his price tag is extremely high and the Wizards do not have the assets, even if they did include draft picks in this trade, to put together an enticing enough trade package for Wood.

The Houston Rockets will likely be making some trades in the offseason to dump veterans like Eric Gordon, D.J. Augustin and maybe even John Wall, but guys like Christian Wood, Kevin Porter Jr. and Kenyon Martin Jr. are untouchable right now.
