Why this trade would make sense for the New York Knicks

This is a great trade for the New York Knicks because they are able to land a great shooting presence to help enhance their starting rotation. The New York Knicks desperately need some shooters to help ease some of the weight off the shoulders of Julius Randle, and CJ McCollum could be a match made in heaven.

The New York Knicks suffered a first round exit by the Atlanta Hawks almost solely because they couldn’t keep pace with the crafty Atlanta shooters. Scoring is the bread and butter of the NBA and if you can’t get the ball through the hoop you’re going to have a hard time winning important games; and that was very much evident in the Knicks’ first round playoff exit.

Adding CJ McCollum would give New York that sharp shooting wing presence the team desperately needs, while shedding some depth on their roster as well. Bringing back Derrick Rose in NBA free agency is likely option that would give the Knicks an intriguing one-two punch throughout games in the backcourt.

The Knicks made a major step forward by making it to the playoffs with an upper seed this season, but if they hope to build off their success in 2020-21, they’ll need to make a move for a sharp shooter like CJ McCollum.
