Evan Fournier had a crazy 2020-21 NBA season that saw him switch teams ahead of the NBA trade deadline. He started the year with the Orlando Magic, but finished it with the Boston Celtics. Now, he is set to head into free agency looking to cash in on his impressive play over the past few years.

With plenty of teams in need of more depth in the back-court and possibly a new starting shooting guard, Fournier should have no issue finding a new home on a lucrative deal. What could that lucrative deal look like?

Michael Scott of HoopsHype dished out some information on what Evan Fournier is looking for this offseason in his new contract.

“‘He’s going to look for $15-20 million a year,’ an NBA executive estimated when speaking to HoopsHype. ‘I’m not sure where he gets that from. They’ll have to keep him since they can’t replace him. It’ll be interesting because they have never been willing to pay the tax, so getting around that will be hard for them. If they let him walk, there’s no replacement.’”

Evan Fournier put together another good all-around season this year. He ended up averaging 17.1 points per game to go along with 3.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.1 steals. In addition to those averages, Fournier shot 45.7 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 41.3 percent of his three-point attempts.

Those numbers show a lot of value to any team in the market for a new shooting guard. Fournier can stretch the floor at a very high level, create his own shot, and can also create for his teammates as well. He is the entire package from an offensive perspective, but his defense does leave something to be desired.

At 28 years of age, Evan Fournier is looking to cash in on this contract. This could be his last chance to lock in a big long-term deal. Whoever wants to sign him will have to bring a large checkbook.

Expect to see quite a few teams show interest in Fournier early on when free agency opens up. The Celtics could very well look to re-sign him, but Fournier will have plenty of offers. He will be an intriguing name to keep an eye on this offseason.
