In today’s NBA, the intrigue of a 6-foot-9 playmaker is extremely high. Enter Scottie Barnes. He is one of the most intriguing prospects in the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft class.
The Florida State product spent one year with the Seminoles and turned heads. In 24 games, Barnes made just seven starts, but his prowess could not be denied, especially on the defensive end of the floor.
Barnes averaged 10.3 points per game to go along with 4.1 rebounds and four assists per game. He shot just 27.5% from the three-point line and that is the part of his game that needs the most work. On the defensive end of the floor, Barnes is a difference maker because of his size and explosiveness.
The idea of a stretch four is something that is taking over the league. Barnes has that kind of potential if he learns to be more consistent with his jump shot. He can handle the ball out on the perimeter as well.
Barnes has a 7-foot-2 wingspan, which will cause problems for opponents, especially defensively. At Florida State, Barnes was part of a strong team and his intangibles have turned him into a lottery pick. Now, it is all about finding the best fit for his game.
He is likely to be selected in the top 10 of the NBA Draft in July. These three teams could take a long, hard look at the forward when they are on the clock.
