These are two teams in very similar positions heading into the NBA offseason. Both the Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans are rebuilding teams with some pieces that they feel good about moving forward. They could potentially get together for a trade and improve further.
For New Orleans, the star power is already high and now it is about putting the right pieces in place. Zion Williamson has quickly turned into an all-star caliber player while Brandon Ingram is locked up for the future.

This is a duo that can take the Pelicans where they want to be but they need the right role players around them. That is what a trade like this could attempt to bring. New Orleans went through another season without the playoffs and that is something the front office could be looking to change sooner than later.
It would benefit the Pelicans to go to another team like them. Cleveland fits the bill because they also have some star power in Collin Sexton. He has turned into a point guard that can take over a game on the offensive end of the floor.
Sexton can score at a high rate and is looking like a franchise point guard. With that being said, the rest of the rotation is constructed in a poor way. Cleveland has plenty of moves to make if they want to get back to competing for a postseason spot.
