The Dallas Mavericks shocked everybody in Game 1 against the Los Angeles Clippers, beating them pretty convincingly 113-103, but nobody expected Dallas to win Game 2 on Tuesday night. In this game, the Mavericks and Clippers combined for 248 total points, but again, Dallas was too much for L.A. to handle and now, the 6-seed Mavericks have a 2-0 series lead in the opening round of the NBA playoffs.

The Clippers ended the season losing some games so they could draw a first-round matchup with the Mavericks, but this may not have worked out in their favor because now, they are in danger of going down 3-0 in this series, which would all but lock things up for the Mavericks at that point.

Dallas has controlled each game of this series so far and have taken the first two games of the series on the road, but now it is time for the Clippers to wake up and actually realize that they are in the NBA playoffs. They need to play Game 3 like it is a Game 7 because if they lose, then they might as well not even play Game 4.

If the Clippers lose Game 3 in Dallas, then they are going to get swept by the Dallas Mavericks, which would be the second-time a 6-seed has ever swept their opening round series since the NBA switched from its best-of-five format in 2003.

Through Games 1 and 2, the Dallas Mavericks have looked fantastic and the Los Angeles Clippers have looked terrible given what we saw from them in the regular season. Game 3 will be very interesting to watch, but before that happens, let’s take a look at the three biggest takeaways from Game 2 of this Mavs-Clippers series.
