The most shocking upset in all of the Game 1’s in this year’s playoffs came Sunday night when the play-in Memphis Grizzlies stole Game 1 on the road in Utah. The Jazz had only lost 5 games during the regular season at home, yet the Grizzlies seemed to win pretty easily up in Salt Lake City even though they only won by 112-109.

Memphis controlled this game from start to finish and it looked like the Jazz just was not locked in to play. The Grizzlies wanted it more than them and it clearly showed in this game given the energy the Grizzlies’ bench had.

The Jazz live and dies by the three-pointer, as they shot 12-47 (25.5%) from deep in Game 1, but they are going to have to make some adjustments defensively in order to take back control of this series. Memphis seemed to get in the paint way too easily in Game 1, which is why Utah has their backs up against the wall now.

There is still a long way to go in this series and the Jazz are more than capable of winning four straight to take the series, but this performance by Memphis definitely has the attention of everybody in the country now, forcing the Jazz to come up with a new game plan and make some big adjustments for Game 2.
